Watch your speed, that’s the first thing you need

Published by aukinkeung at 2:04 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Watching your speed is the very first safety tip on the road. Although you might always stay below the speed limit for the road you are on, it can still be dangerous to drive at this maximum limit irrespective of conditions. You should always reduce your speed when the road ahead presents hazards, such as bends. Remember that you are sharing the road with pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and (in some parts of the world) horse riders and cattle. You have to build in safety buffers for poor weather conditions and at night.
Don’t fool yourself that exceeding the speed limit isn’t dangerous in your hands, as you are a better or experienced driver.  Research has shown that at 40mph, 85% of people hit by vehicles die, compared to 20% at 30mph and 5% at 20mph.

It might surprise you that slow driving can be equally hazardous. Driving hesitantly and too slowly is also potentially dangerous, as it can cause confusion and problems for other road users. Set out with the conviction that you will drive safely and confidently, at the appropriate speed for the road and current conditions, and with consideration for those around you.

Watch your speed, the first thing you need.
